Spiritual Retreats in Mallorca for Inner Peace

Why Mallorca suits a spiritual retreat, and what a quiet week of meditation, yoga and plant-based food looks like at Curolla, a manor house in the heart of the island.

An island made for slowing down

Most people picture Mallorca’s beaches first. Spend a few days inland and another island appears: almond and olive groves, stone villages built around their church, monasteries on the hilltops and long, quiet afternoons. It is this side of Mallorca that makes it such a good place for a spiritual retreat.

The island has a long contemplative history. Pilgrims have climbed to its sanctuaries for centuries, from Lluc in the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, to Cura on the Randa mountain. The Cant de la Sibil·la, a medieval chant still sung in Mallorcan churches every Christmas Eve, is recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. You don’t need to share any particular belief to feel that this is a place where people have always come to listen.

Where Curolla fits in

Curolla is a healthy hotel in a manor house built before 1840, in the village of Maria de la Salut, right in the centre of the island. The setting is simple: thick stone walls, wooden beams, a garden with palm trees and a pool, and the silence of a farming village.

For retreats we offer a bright yoga room with an arched window, used exclusively by the group, along with mats, blocks, bolsters, cushions and blankets. Most retreats here are led by independent teachers who bring their own way of working: meditation, breathwork, yoga, journaling or simply time in silence. You can see the upcoming retreats on our yoga page.

What a quiet day can look like

Every retreat is different, but many follow a similar rhythm:

  • Morning: meditation or a gentle practice in the yoga room before breakfast
  • Breakfast: our 100% vegan breakfast, with homemade recipes and seasonal fruit
  • Midday: free time to read in the garden, swim, or walk the lanes around the village
  • Afternoon: a workshop or a slower practice such as Yin or restorative yoga
  • Evening: dinner, a short meditation, and an early night

Leaving space in the day matters as much as the sessions themselves. A retreat works when there is nothing to rush to.

Food as part of the practice

Eating well is part of how we take care of guests. Our breakfast is 100% vegan, made with homemade recipes and seasonal fruit, and many groups find that simple, plant-based food makes it easier to stay present during the day.

Places to visit nearby

From Maria de la Salut it is easy to reach some of the island’s quietest spots:

  • Santuari de Cura, on top of Randa, with views across the whole island
  • Lluc, the spiritual heart of the Tramuntana, about an hour away by car
  • The Pla de Mallorca villages, such as Sineu, known for its Wednesday market, and Petra
  • The bay of Alcúdia, around 20 minutes away, for a walk by the sea
